One of the oldest varieties of tobacco - traced back to 1492. The plant grows to approximately 4 to 5 feet tall with 21 leaves per plant that are approximately 2 feet long. It develops a very fragrant beautiful flower, free of the tobacco mosaic virus & highly resistant to other diseases. The plant easily cures to a golden brown color.
The Burley-21 embodies a very mellow chocolate
flavor with a light hint of honey. It delivers a subtle and
consistent semi sweet flavor along with the nutty aromatic after
taste. This provides you with a satisfying and genuine tobacco
flavor.
The Burley 21 contains almost no sugar which gives it a very dry
and full aroma. burley tobacco burns very slowly and is a very
cool smoke. This is due to the extensive curing of the plant in
which the plant is naturally air dried for a month with no
sunlight.
The taste of burley tobacco is relatively strong,
full and dry. The taste changes if the tobacco is roasted at
very high temperatures. In this way the tobacco's fine aroma
comes out fully, and the taste and strength become round and
full, and nutlike. The same process is used to draw out the
fine tastes nuances in coffee.
One of the qualities that make this variety of tobacco plants so
unique is that their size and characteristics will vary
according to the climate and type of soil in which they are
grown. Or in other words, wherever you decide to grow your
tobacco plant will greatly affect how it looks. The differences
between the same plants grown in two different regions can be
quite dramatic, creating some very beautiful and unique colors.

NC-102
Developed by growers in North Carolina, these plants grow to approximately 3 1/2 feet tall with an average of 18.5 leaves per plant that are approximately 20 inches in length. The NC-102 has a superior resistance to Tobacco Mosaic Virus, Potato Virus, Etch Virus & Root Knot. Since the NC-102 is a coated hybrid seed, it matures a little later that most plants and cures to a medium brown color.
The flavor of NC-102 is milder than K-346 and classic Burley-21. It has a tendency to burn smooth with a medium body and mild flavored finish. NC-102 also burns slower than other burleys due to its higher oil content. When the middle leaves are ripe, the whole plant should be harvested and then air dried. When curing, NC-102 has a strong aromatic chocolate aroma (this is natural).
Burley tobacco's stronger character is due to the
low content of sugar in the leaves. Accordingly, burley tobacco
is dried naturally in air for a month, away from sunlight.

Developed by growers in Kansas, these plants grow to approximately 4 feet tall with an average of 18 leaves per plant that are approximately 22 inches in length. The K-346 holds exceptionally well for a delayed harvest, and one of the most popular features about this plant is the fact it is highly resistant to Granville Wilt, Black Shank and root knot. The K-346 is also a coated hybrid seed that cures easily to a beautiful orange color.
The flavor of K-346 is considered medium to robust
